This year, these rebates were authorized by the state legislature and apply to any Montana resident that owns their primary residence, lived in it for at least seven months, had property taxes billed, and paid them. Taxpayers have until October 1st to apply for their rebate, so don’t delay.
We wanted to notify you and help you through the application process. Here is what you’ll need to apply:
- Provide the physical address of your property.
- Your property’s geocode. (Visit Montana Cadastral at https://svc.mt.gov/msl/mtcadastral to find this information. The site works best on a computer. Click the “search” tab on the left, pick your county from the drop-down menu, and type your last name in the search bar. Click on your name, and your Geocode will be the second item on the record card).
- Amount of property taxes billed and paid (2022). Most Montana counties have an online property tax search. You can easily find your county’s specific site by searching for “x county mt property tax search.” You can alternatively call your county treasurer for a copy of your bill or use the statement you received in the mail.
- The rebate letter ID number. You should have received a letter from the state outlining this application process. You will need your letter ID in the top right portion of the letter.
- You’ll need to provide names and social security numbers for you, your spouse, and your dependents.
- Provide the bank account or address information for where you would like to receive payment. You will need your routing and account numbers if you choose direct deposit.
Once you’ve gathered these items, visit getmyrebate.mt.gov and follow the prompts to apply. You can track your rebate on Montana’s TransAction Portal (TAP) once you have applied.
You can visit this website for FAQs regarding the rebate and application process.
As always, don’t hesitate to contact the GoPrime team if you have questions. We have gone through this application process as well!
